Meet Chuck Cushman

Rooted in Real Experience to Elevate Your Leadership Through Partnership

Chuck Cushman started his leadership journey nearly 45 years ago at West Point and served as an Army officer. He earned a Ph.D. in American politics (political science) at UNC-Chapel Hill, and he has worked as a congressional staffer, advocacy director, defense consultant, and college professor and administrator.

 

     He is a seasoned policy and higher education leader, with three decades of experience leading teams, designing innovative academic programs, and navigating the complexities of institutional management. He has been a program director, department chair, associate dean and associate provost, and has been dean of two colleges for ten years. He has worked in four-year universities and community college, in civilian and military institutions.

 

     Today, Chuck partners with higher education and nonprofit leaders to unlock their natural strengths and enhance their executive skills. His approach blends scholarly insight with real-world expertise in strategy and governance.Whether you are leading a university department or a mission-driven organization, Chuck serves as a dedicated ally, helping you build on your talents and manage the challenges of leadership in a time of great change. His goal is simple: to help you achieve your goals.

     Chuck balances work and play, too. He is a dedicated home cook and runs a food blog, What will you have?, to work out his ideas about cooking and to share delicious recipes gathered on his many travels.
